World Water Monitoring

World Water MonitoringWorld Water Monitoring Challenge™ is an international education and outreach program that builds public awareness and involvement in protecting water resources around the world by engaging citizens to conduct basic monitoring of their local water bodies.
In 2011, approximately 340,000 people in 77 countries monitored their local waterways. We challenge you to test the quality of your waterways, share your findings, and protect our most precious resource!
Visit the official webpage for World Water Monitoring Day or contact your local partner Lynnhaven River NOW by emailing Jody Ullmann for more information.

Through the eyes of chef-heroes like Bourdain, Dan Barber, Mario Batali, Massimo Bottura, and Danny Bowien, WASTED! exposes the criminality of food waste and shows us how each of us can make small changes – all of them delicious – to make the most of every kind of food.

Hosted by Lynnhaven River NOW & Buy Fresh Buy Local. Following the movie there will be a panel discussion. The panel will include Tim Cole, VB Public Schools, a restaurant representative, and a Food Bank of South HR representative.

Hands Across the Sand 2018 Partnership:

On Saturday, May 19, 2018, the world will join hands to show our opposition to offshore drilling and look ahead to a clean energy future. Virginia will host events at the oceanfront in Virginia Beach, Buckroe Beach in Hampton, and at Willis Wharf in the Eastern Shore.
As many of you know, Hands Across the Sand, founded in 2010, grew into an international movement after the BP oil disaster in April of that year. People came together to join hands, forming symbolic barriers against spilled oil and to stand against the impacts of other forms of extreme energy.
